Idol Gives Back

Idol Gives Back Foundation is a new not-for-profit organization established by the producers of American Idol and FOX to raise money and awareness for children and families living in poverty and at risk in the U.S. and abroad. Idol Gives Back Foundation is harnessing American Idol's ability to capture America's hearts and the power of entertainment to benefit some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world.

Foundation Functions

  • To make grants for charitable endeavors that touch and change the lives of children and their families in the US and abroad
  • Focusing on the provision of health, education and services for those in poverty and at risk

Idol Gives Back Foundation's grant selection is guided by the following criteria:

How We Do It

Idol Gives Back Foundation harnesses American Idol's ability to capture America's hearts and the power of entertainment to benefit some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world.

Who We Are

Idol Gives Back began as a meaningful way for those behind American Idol and FOX to give back in a significant way to children's causes worldwide. Idol Gives Back was successfully launched as a charity event in 2007 and has grown into a foundation comprised of Fox Broadcasting Company, FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment.

Idol Gives Back Foundation (EIN 26-2001771) is exempt from U.S. federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The board of Idol Gives Back Foundation has a director from each of these companies:

Simon Fuller

Director and President

Simon Fuller is CEO of 19 Entertainment and is a director of CKX Inc, a NASDAQ quoted corporation. 19 Entertainment is a producer of American Idol.

Simon created Pop Idol, a predecessor to American Idol, versions of which have been made in over 40 countries. He has also managed Cathy Dennis, Annie Lennox and the Spice Girls.

He co-created CPEF, the charitable entity through which funds raised from Idol Gives Back 2007 were distributed.

Cecile Frot-Coutaz

Director, Vice-President and CFO

Cecile Frot-Coutaz is CEO of FremantleMedia North America, which is a producer of American Idol. In this capacity she oversees production, legal and business affairs and explores strategic growth opportunities for the company.

Cecile also serves on the board of CPEF, the charitable entity through which funds raised from Idol Gives Back 2007 were distributed.

Donna Redier Linsk

Director, Secretary

Donna Redier Linsk is Senior Vice President, Business Affairs and Alternative Production for Fox Broadcasting Company. In this capacity she is responsible for all business and production related issues on FOX's major unscripted programming, including American Idol.

In 2007 Donna co-ordinated sponsorship-, beneficiary- and production-related issues on behalf of FOX for Idol Gives Back.
